Appellate Practice
At Harvey Kruse, P.C., our trial practice is complemented by our work at the appellate level in both state and federal courts throughout the country (including the U.S. Courts of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court). Since our founding in 1969, we have tried countless cases to conclusion, many of which have required further argument at the appellate level. Over the years, we have helped to shape the law substantially and have argued many landmark cases before the appellate courts.
We represent a broad mix of clients in litigation, including individuals and small businesses, as well as insurers and large corporate entities. At Harvey Kruse, P.C., we routinely defend such clients in complex litigation involving commercial disputes, products liability, construction liability, employment law, toxic torts, asbestos litigation, transportation litigation, comprehensive insurance defense, insurance coverage, and more.
Appellate matters require highly-sophisticated, seasoned representation, backed by the support of a more comprehensive team of litigators who are each equipped with the tools necessary to assist with specific disputes. Every attorney at Harvey Kruse, P.C. tries cases, and our civil litigation practice is among the largest in the state of Michigan.
How We Can Help You
Unlike many of our larger competitors, our appellate attorneys practice at both the trial and appellate levels. And unlike large “mega firms” whose appellate attorneys may limit their practice to the upper courts, we also try cases in the lower courts. At Harvey Kruse, P.C., our practical, end-to-end litigation experience allows us to offer our clients a thorough understanding of the evidentiary and procedural foundations on which a given appeal is based. This gives our attorneys a significant competitive advantage when handling a case at the appellate level.
Litigating a case at the appellate level can create significant frustrations and anxieties for the client. At this stage of a dispute, the client may begin to run into legitimate budgetary constraints, particularly since they have already gone through a trial without securing a favorable resolution. The appeal may be a “last resort” for the client. We pride ourselves on our ability to minimize costs (by streamlining operations, staffing intelligently, offering flat fee agreements, and maintaining a low overhead) while providing expert appellate representation.
We are aggressive advocates for our clients’ interests and we provide the benefits of a large firm (i.e., resources, high-quality legal services, networks, and economies of scale) combined with the traits of a boutique firm (i.e., personalized service, responsive communication and attention to detail). If a client has any questions or concerns throughout the appeals process, we are readily available to respond to their inquiries and help them understand their case.
